France - Concerning officers' and soldiers' pay, the "PTA" process, and his role in that system. Encourages Edith to socialize with people outside the family, especially if it improves her spirits. Describes bathing conditions and his hair, and notes that he is not in contact with troops and is fairly isolated from the war. Thoughts of her give him comfort. Several lines of the letter are covered with tape.
