France - There are bombings every night, after supper they all gather their blankets and walk two miles away from all the buildings to dig a hole to sleep in. He has enclosed a half Franc note so that Letty can see what the French money looks like. Nick's service record has arrived and he will soon revive his back pay of fifty dollars.

France - The Germans dropped bombs during the night, for the first time in a few weeks. On Bastille Day, Nick travelled to a historical seaside town in Northern France where he visited the tower where Joan of Arc was imprisoned and other historical sites.
