France - Almost all operations were suspended so that the allied countries could celebrate the Fourth of July. Nick spent a wonderful holiday in on the seaside; he explored a beautiful French town, went to the beach, watched a baseball game, and had delicious food.

France - Tomorrow will be a holiday for all of France and he will go on a day trip with some of the men. They have less work now so he now has a daily program of activities in the evening; supper, baseball, write a letter to Letty, mandolin lesson, and then studying.

France - On Sunday the Canadians had a field day and he played baseball with them. They were able to get gloves from the Y.M.C.A. but they only had one bat. He pitched the whole game and got a home run. He received five letters the other day, one was from Letty and the others were from family and friends.
