France - Nick wishes he could write more, but he doesn't have much time and there aren't Y.M.C.A.'s filled with writing paper. He has been thinking a lot about home and Letty. He has a little bit of money now and he will try to buy some souvenirs and mail them to Letty along with some Rosary Beads. he had every intention of going to church on Easter Sunday but there were no churches nearby.

France - Nick thinks about Letty all day. When he is at his typewriter working on payroll his mind wanders to Letty back home. There is a piano at the Y.M.C.A. and whenever someone plays it he thinks of Letty. He is gaining many skills working in the office that he can use when he comes home. There is so much that Nick wants to tell Letty but he cannot.
