Letter from Clinton T. Brann to Rhea Oppenheimer

France - Clint was thrilled to receive two more letters from Rhea and writes both about his love for her and her eccentricities, and his concerns about how serious their relationship has become. He believes that her parents would raise many objections to their marrying, if they did not outright forbid it. He has an old soldier friend who has been almost everywhere that he shares some of Rhea's letters and phot... more

Letter from Clinton T. Brann to Martha Brann

France - It has been a while since Clint received mail from home and he is starting to wonder why. He got out of the hospital last Wednesday and is feeling pretty good, and it was a good thing he went because he came very close to getting pneumonia. They are supposed to leave from Brest on the 28th and he heard from another dental surgeon friend of his that he and a number of other surgeons from the 2nd divisi... more

Letter from Clinton T. Brann to Rhea Oppenheimer

France - Clint replies to Rhea's question by telling her that he is no longer engaged and she should soon receive some letters from him with more of his thoughts. When he spoke about her to Llyod, he... more

Letter from Clinton T. Brann to Rhea Oppenheimer

France - The mail has been coming more often thanks to a new arrangement by the military post, and Clint has been re-reading her last letter over and over. Somehow he had come to believe that her religion forbid intermarriage, so he is thrilled to learn that is not the case. He writes about earlier times in their relationship, when he was still engaged to another woman and uncertain about the future and his fe... more

Letter from Clinton T. Brann to Rhea Oppenheimer

Ehrenbreitstein (Koblenz, Germany) - Clint was glad to get some snapshots from Rhea but is afraid to send her some of himself because he's aging. He learned that the new dental surgeon, Dr. Epstein, is Jewish and his sweetheart is not, so Clint and Rhea are not the only mixed couple. He might be able to go on leave in early March, though he doesn't think he'll make it to Italy and might go to Monaco instead.

Letter from Clinton T. Brann to Martha Brann

Bar-sur-Aube (France) - Clint arrived in Bar-sur-Aube yesterday afternoon, where he reported to the adjutant general and ran into lieutenant colonel Graham, who had recently been informed of his wife's death. The town is clean and his workspace is nice, and prospects for returning home soon are bright. He writes about breaking off his engagement with Helen so that he could become engaged to Rhea. He hopes that Martha will no... more
