Oquakwa (Ill.) - Louisa feels as though she is going mad, as Will is driving her insane. She informs Sadie that Will is refusing to take medicine and has been drinking (which is what made him sick in the first place). Will denies this fact and threatens to take arsenic.
1900 Jan. 12
Oquakwa (Ill.) - Louisa fills Sadie in on the town gossip. She encourages Sadie to study harder in Latin and advises her to choose her algebra class sooner rather than later. Louisa asks Sadie to find out the address of the Presbyterian Church Addie attends and also for the name of the pastor--but to do so quietly. She goes on to talk about church attendance and prayer meetings.
1903 Feb. 22
Oquakwa (Ill.) - Louisa talks about town gossip and informs Sadie of the church members and encourages her to write them letters of congratulations. She goes on to talk about new babies and provides Sadie with an update on the wellbeing of Sadie Huff. Louisa is afraid that Sadie Huff is "traveling the downward road."
1902 June 4
Oquakwa (Ill.) - Louisa talks about how she had her mother's wedding dress died black, and explains that she is not ready to give it to Sarah. She goes on to talk about her house keeping duties and church activities and attendance. She talks about a sermon that especially spoke to her, and tells Sarah to refer to John 12:32 to get an idea of it.
