Oquakwa (Ill.) - Louisa describes the nice umbrella she found in the hall next to the sitting room and asks if Sadie had ever noticed it before. She discovered that Sadie's papa had bought it, and she continues to describe how nice it is and how she plans to use it whenever it rains. Louisa wants to know what Sadie is reading in Greek.
Oquakwa (Ill.) - Louisa talks about all the housework she has been doing. She instructs Sarah to get her pictures taken and then goes on to talk about town gossip. Minnie Buschnell tried to sell her a copy of "Talmage's Life," but she declined. Louisa then states her belief that agents "are beggars." Louisa hopes that Sarah's indigestion is not too bad.
