Taylor, Brainerd, 1877-1955
Brent has enclosed a poem with his letter that may or may not have literary merit but was his involuntary response to the sight he witnessed while standing on the hill referred to in the poem. He wrote the poem in about 15 minutes and made minor corrections. He does not want it published, but he wants music to go with it that he can almost hear, and if it were published it might get music. He had some other officers read it and they thought it was good.
