National Alliance of Mental Patients
A newsletter by the National Alliance of Mental Patients. This issue includes an interview with Peggy Timblin, member of the planning committee for Alternatives '88, and article by Judi Chamberlin about Joyce Patricia Brown, a homeless woman who was involuntarily committed to Bellevue Hospital as part of New York City Mayor Koch's plan to institutionalize the homeless mentally ill, and a talk Brown was giving at Harvard. There is a response by a member of NAMP to a letter the National Alliance on Mental Illness wrote agreeing that mental illnesses are associated with disturbances in brain physiology. There are also personal experiences of new NAMP members.
