Formal portrait of William D. Hurd. Note on the back reads: "William D. Hurd was born at DeWitt, Michigan in 1875. He graduated from Michigan Agricultural College in 1899 and later received the degree of Master of Agriculture from the same institution. From 1899 to 1902 he taught at Lansing, Michigan. In 1902 he was made Professor of Horticulture at the School of Practical Agriculture, Briercliff Manor, N.Y. 1903-1906 he was Professor of Agriculture at the University of Maine and was Dean of the College of Agriculture, University of Main 1906-09. In 1909 he became Director of Short Courses at the Massachusetts Agricultural College and from 1910-19 was Director of Extension Service and Supervisor of Short Courses, Massachusetts Agricultural College".
