Augsburg (Germany) - Thinks it too early to worry about Christmas presents, since mail will begin moving faster now the war in Europe is done. Trip to Berchtesgarten with a group of soldiers.
Oberursel (Germany) - On temporary duty near Frankfurt. Saw Sig Holden; is now in charge of two ski lodges in Bavaria.

Augsburg (Germany) - Promotion in the works. Is selecting men to go to Third Army Basketball Officiating School. Letter written on a letter from Ernest Binns complaining that Joe had written so seldom he thought he must be injured.

Does not know any longer what he wants to do when he gets home: Iowa may still be a possibility, has been encouraged to work in journalism, funds for teaching creative writing are limited; Dana will wish him back but not until Fall, and they cannot afford the lapse.
