Pike, Phillip N. (Newman), 1895-1953
Phil was glad to hear that Helen did visit Farley, despite what little she could do for the Baileys. He received his Christmas box yesterday and he's glad to finally have a decent pen to write with again, since French ink, like nearly everything in France, is no good. He visited Paris last week and just missed seeing the President, which was his only furlough in the year he's been abroad. As a historic city, Paris is quite nice but as a modern city he finds it lacking. He saw all the major landmarks, including the tomb of Napoleon, the Eiffel Tower, and a church that was struck by a German gun. He speculates on when he, Harry, and Jay will be able to return home and comments on a photo that Harry sent to him.
