Pratt, Evelyn (interviewee)
Interview with Evelyn Pratt, born in Columbus, Ohio, Evelyn Judy Gammon, in 1948, talks about living on Grant Ave., where her father bought a house and dug out his own basement. Her mother died when she was young, and eventually Evelyn had a major role in the upkeep her the house and family. The children walked to Weinland Park Elementary school. Though she wanted to go to college, the money was not there, and so she relied on private instruction during and after high school in music: Piano and organ. She met Charles Pratt, who soon after became an evangelist minister; she took charge of music in one church in Columbus but in 1980, her husband was invited to be the pastor at a church in Pittsfield, Victory Church of God in Christ, and the family, now with young children, moved to Pittsfield, where they have been and where Evelyn not only provides the music but helps out with many aspects of church life.
